Annual Athletic Meet on 29th Feb 2016.

The Annual Athletic Meet was held today in DAV College Campus. It was a glorious moment for the College, as the athletic meet was held after a span 35 years.
The chief guest of the event was Sh. Sarup Chand Singla, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Excise & Taxation), Govt. of Punjab. The guest of honour was Sh. Balwant Rai Nath, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Bathinda. Chief Guest of the valedictory function was Dr. Basant Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda and the Guest of Honour was S. Jaipal Singh (Arjuna Awardee), Asstt. Inspector General of Police (Crime Branch), Bathinda.
The event was also blessed with the presence of Sh. P.D. Goyal, Chairman, Local Managing Committee DAV College, Bathinda, Swami Surya Dev Ji and members of the Local Management Committee. All the retired teaching and non-teaching staff graced the occasion with their presence, namely, Prof. Rajnish Kumar, Prof. I.K. Sukhija, Prof. M.L. Arora, Prof. R. Deora, Prof. G.D. Doda, Prof. Yog Raj, Prof. N.K. Gosain, Prof. P.K. Verma, Prof. Vohra, Prof. Rajiv Jain, Prof. Prof. S.P. Jain, Prof. B.R. Goyal, Prof. R.K. Rai, Prof. V.K. Aggarwal, Prof. S.L. Aggarwal, Shri Satpal Sharma, Shri Vijay Singh Rajput, Shri J.L. Bansal, Shri Mathra Dass, Shri Sardari Lal and Shri Ram Phul.
The event started with the recitation of mantras and march past of the students of the College in perfect coordination. The enthusiasm and the vigour of the students was truly commendable and it filled each one present with great excitement and fervor.
The Chief Guest Sh. Sarup Chand Singla appreciated the stupendous efforts put in by the Principal of the College in organizing this event. The guest of honour Sh. Balwant Rai Nath congratulated the College for making a remarkable progress in all the spheres, be it academics, extracurricular or sports.
The students exhibited the true sportsmanship spirit in various events for boys and girls like 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 5000m, long jump, shot put, discus throw, relay race etc. Various fun games like Sack Race, Tug of War, Spoon Lemon Race, Three Legged Race etc, witnessed both the students and faculty taking part wholeheartedly.
A wrap up of the sports fiesta of the College was given by Prof. Madan Lal, Head of the Department, Physical Education. The Principal of the College acknowledged the strenuous efforts made by the Department of Physical Education and its faculty Prof. Madan Lal, Prof. Nirmal Singh and Prof. Rajia for their devotion and sincere efforts.
Dr. Basant Garg, the chief guest of the valedictory function congratulated the participants and the winners of the event. He also lauded the efforts of the DAV College, Bathinda on devoting itself for the cause of education and social welfare.
The Principal Dr. Sanjeev Sharma acknowledged the valuable time spared by the distinguished guests to be a part of this sports event. He thanked each one present, the guests, retired faculty, teaching, non-teaching staff and students for their active cooperation and tireless efforts to make the event a success.

Science Association organizes Poster making competition on the Event of National Science Day Chief Guest Sh. Anil Kumar Garg MCB Commissioner Bathinda.

A Poster Making Competition was held in the DAV College, Bathinda on National Science Day. The theme of the competition was 'SAVE ENVIRONMENT'. The competition was organized by the Department of Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Around 50 students of science streams actively participated in the competition. The chief guest on the occasion was Mr. Anil Kumar Garg, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Bathinda. He congratulated the participants on showing ingenuity in their posters. He praised the efforts put in by the students. The Principal of the College Dr. Sanjeev Sharma and Vice-Principal Prof. Varesh Gupta motivated the students at the beginning of the program and said that in order to save our environment, all of us must inculcate a consciousness towards our Planet Earth. He was greatly impressed with the themes used by the students in their posters. Ist, IInd and IIIrd positions were awarded to Nimarpreet Kaur, Pragati and Mehakpreet & Payal resepectively. A vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Gurpreet Singh, HoD Physics. On this occasion Prof. Aman Malhotra, Prof. Amar Santosh Singh, Prof. Parveen Bala, Prof. K.S. Celebrated 'Lohri' Festival

DAV College Bathinda celebrated 'Lohri' festival in its campus with utmost goal and fervour. The College campus reverberated with the rejoicings, fun and frolic amongst the faculty, staff and students
The Principal of the College Dr. Sanjeev Sharma warmly greeted and blessed one and all. He firmly believed that the year 2016 would bring luck and fortune to those who are willing to dedicate themselves totally to their work. He expected everybody to set an example for the future generations to follow.
Everybody participated wholeheartedly in the celebrations. On this occasion a street play (Nukkad Natak) was brilliantly performed by the "Lok Manch" (students of Punjabi University, Patiala). The play depicted the corruption and social vices prevalent in the society. The Principal and the Vice-Principal of the College thanked and congratulated the performers of the play and gave them a little amount of money in the form of blessings. The Principal also invited them for future performances in the College.

Distributed woollen wear

DAV College, Bathinda took a step forward in contributing to the cause of ailing humanity. Understanding the need of the area and adhering to the ethics of corporate social responsibility, Mr. Swapan Dutta, President Marketing, Monte Carlo Fashions Ltd, Ludhiana gifted 260 woolen wear, costing Rs. 5,75,000/- to DAV College, Bathinda to be distributed to the under-priviledged, needy students and those who are devoid of parental affection.
The Principal, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma showered his blessings on these students and donated sweaters to them. Supporting him in this noble venture, were present Swami Surya Dev Ji, Sh. P.D. Goyal, Chairman, Local Committee of this College, Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar, Principal, DAV School, Bathinda and Dr. K.K. Nohria, Choudhary Pratap Singh, Members of Local Committee, DAV College, Bathinda.
Swami Surya Dev Ji blessed the students and said that by holding the hand of even one child in distress, takes a person a step closer to the Almighty.
Other distinguished dignitaries present at this emotional juncture were overwhelmed and bestowed their choicest blessings on one and all.
Among the others present at this moment were the Vice Principal, Prof. Varesh Gupta, Registrar Prof. Parveen Kumar, Prof. Mahesh Inder Singh, Prof. Madan Lal, Prof. Sandeep Bhatia, Prof. Amit Singla and Staff Secretary of the College Dr. H.S. Arora.

Hockey tournament (women)

Punjabi University Inter-College Hockey tournament (women) is being organized by DAV College, Bathinda in local hockey AstroTurf Bathinda from 07th January to 09th January, 2016. The tournament was inaugurated by Sh. Ram Singh Virk, General Secretary, Punjab Youth Congress. The guests on the occasion were Sh. Beant Singh Randhawa, Municipal Councilor, ward no. 19, Sh. Dev Raj Pakka, Ex. General Secretary, Punjab Congress Committee (Rural) and Sh. Hardeep Singh Tony (Advocate) President, Bathinda Sports Club. The representatives of the Punjabi University Patiala, retired Zonal Sports Officer Bathinda and Ms. Meenakshi, Hockey Coach, Punjabi University, Patiala were also present. The organizers of the event, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Principal, Sh. Varesh Gupta,Vice Principal, DAV College Bathinda and Sh. P.D. Goyal, Chairman, Local Committee of the College blessed the participants of the tournament. The event was anchored by Prof. Manpreet Kaur. Prof. Mahesh Inder Singh welcomed the teams. Principal, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma thanked the participants, Team Managers, Coaches and the audience. He earnestly wished that the Players will scale new heights in the field of sports. The first match of the tournament was played between DAV College, Bathinda and S.D. College, Barnala. DAV College, Bathinda won the match by a huge margin of 21-0. The Chief Guest Sh. Ram Singh Virk donated Rs. 11,000/- to DAV College, Bathinda for the tournament and Sh. Beant Singh Randhawa (M.C.) honoured the winning team with the prize money of Rs. 1,100/-.and second winner team was given Rs. 500/- and Sh. Dev Raj Pakka awarded Rs. 500/- as blessing to remaining players.
